A corner hidden in the forest
IZU RESORT VILLA is hidden in the forests of East Izu. It's not on the busy tourist routes, nor is it somewhere you'd notice at first glance. But if you're willing to slow down, you'll discover the forest, the trees, and a quiet you haven't felt in a long time.
"Travel isn't about going to more places, but about letting your mind a relax in the afternoon."
— Izu Resort VillaA Japanese hotel where you can zone out with capybaras
This is Japan's first resort villa where you can share space with capybaras. They stroll the garden, stare zone out beyond the glass, occasionally come closer to see what you're doing, then slowly wander away again. They are the most dedicated healers here.
700 books,
one coffee,
a whole afternoon.
Surrounded by bookshelves, coffee scent fills the room. No wifi reminders, no meeting alerts, just the sound of pages turning and wind now and then.
Public Bath & Sauna
After time with the capybaras and a stroll, nothing beats a hot soak in the large bath. The property has open-air baths and a sauna, an evening soak melts the tension away and feels truly like a vacation.
Tennis Court
Besides animal encounters, the resort also has tennis courts. A morning game to stretch your legs, then a slow day enjoying the grounds, the pace can be wonderfully unhurried.
Barbecue House
The grounds have an outdoor barbecue area, ideal for families or friends. Grill at night under the stars and feel a slow-holiday mood utterly unlike the city.
Enjoy the flavours of Izu; admire the capybaras at ease
You'll discover that true unwinding
can really mean doing nothing at all
For a few days here, planned nothing. Morning baths, watching the sea. At Midday, I picked up the book I hadn't finished yet at the library cafe. Afternoon staring at capybaras for a long time and they left first. Evening, eating too much, then wind on the terrace, thinking of nothing. This was probably the closest to the true meaning of a holiday in years.
No rush, follow the capybara's pace and set off slowly
